About TYG
Our Story
It started with a few of us who wanted something that didn't exist.
When you move to a new city — or even when you've been in one for years — it's easy to feel like there's no one who really gets your background. The culture, the food, the little things that don't translate.
That's how TYG started. A few Turkish young people in Rochester, NY who wanted a space to connect. Not a formal organization. Not a nonprofit with a board and bylaws. Just a group chat that turned into park days, potlucks, soccer matches, and late-night conversations over Turkish coffee.
What started as a group chat turned into real events, real friendships, and a community that keeps growing. Someone says "we should do something" — and we do.
Our Mission
TYG exists to give Turkish youth in Rochester a place to belong. Somewhere to connect with people who share your culture, build real friendships, and create experiences that matter. No formality, no agenda — just community.
